Delbert's #4

Delbert Randall's father Nathan Burley Randall bought the 800 acre Randall Ranch in 1923, and allowed his son to build the first home here close to both the road and the river. Delbert and his bride, Emily, took the old Ford Model A to Carson City to get married. The journey over the Sierra took most of the day, but when they arrived, there was no justice of the peace, so they had to hurry to Reno so they could get married before dark! They lived in this home for many years. Delbert and Emily were rather short, and this home has seven foot ceilings throughout, with only a 5'10" shower. Nice for saving on heat, but not good for tall people.

This home has been remodeled over the years and features two bedrooms and a small den, and a large living and dining area. Small steps lead to a walk in closet, a utility room and a laundry room with electric washer dryer hookup. There is a wood stove and there is an electric wall heater in the living room and another in the main bedroom, plus an electric wall heater in the bathroom. It has a propane range and propane hot water heater. We have a generator on our well to provide water during power cutoffs. The bedrooms are typical of that era, about 10 X 10 feet, but the entire home is about 950 square feet.
